Every body has a unique genetic makeup and life history that together influence how the body functions. If your body is not functioning well and you are suffering pain, discomfort, or decreasing abilities then you owe it to yourself to explore new avenues for feeling better. 

Back in 1999, when I awoke that winter morning blind in my right eye and was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, I didn’t know what to do or where to turn for guidance. The doctors told me that 80% of MS patients experience significant disability within ten years of diagnosis and, as you can probably imagine, this prophecy scared the daylights out of me. All I could think was that I would do anything to stay out of a wheelchair.

I realized that I had to craft my own journey to find other solutions. After all, my future was most important to me, and I didn’t want to sit around waiting for that wheelchair. 

I started taking courses, reading books, attending lectures, workshops, summits and retreats. I sampled therapies, protocols, and practitioners. I worked toward and received numerous certificates in healing modalities, a doctorate in naturopathy, and then I passed the exams for certification by the certifying board. 

In short, I decided to take my health into my own hands and I invested in myself, my education, and my future as someone with MS. I dedicated myself to learning how to manage my body with MS: how to identify what it needed, and more importantly, what it didn’t.

And it worked! My own health improved to the point that my last serious MS flare-up was back in 2002. It took twenty years of finding and experimenting with many different therapies and protocols to find what resonated with me and worked with my own body.
